Cooling down your dog in summer – The best tips against the heat

Hund abkühlen im Sommer – Die besten Tipps gegen Hitze

Sun, vacation, long days – summer makes many things easier. But not for everyone: Our dogs often suffer from the high temperatures. To help your four-legged friend enjoy the summer in a relaxed manner, we've compiled the best tips for you.

1. Create shady spots

Schedule walks for the early morning or late evening. Avoid direct sunlight and offer your dog a cool, shady retreat during the day. A spot under a tree, in the basement, or a well-ventilated room is ideal.

2. Always fresh water

Sounds simple – but it's vital. Your dog should have access to fresh, not ice-cold water at all times. Always have a water bottle and bowl with you when you're out and about – and offer them regularly.

3. Gently cool paws and body

A quick paw bath with cool water can work wonders. Damp washcloths on the paws, belly, and chest also help regulate body temperature. The most effective way to wet the dog is with cold water (not ice-cold!) – ideally right down to the skin.

A fan or draft supports evaporation – and ensures faster cooling.

Important: Please do not place wet towels on your dog! This prevents air circulation and can cause heat buildup.

4. Cooling toys & frozen treats

Frozen carrots, special ice treats, or fillable cooling toys offer not only refreshment but also variety. But don't let them get too cold—and don't leave them out of the freezer for too long.

5. Active cooling with system

If you want real, safe cooling, the coolnis cooling mat is the best choice.

It cools immediately, consistently, and specifically – without chemicals, without preparation, and without compromise. Unlike gel or freezing mats, it actually lowers your dog's body temperature – not just the feeling on their skin.

Whether indoors or on the go, this solution offers real relief – for a relaxed, healthy summer.
